Museum and Birthdays

Yesterday, my family and I celebrated two birthdays...My oldest sisters and my niece, Courtney's. It was a packed day with a ton of fun things planned. Since it was my day off, it worked out perfect. In the morning, we went to the BYU Art Museum in Provo to view the current exhibit, Carl Bloch: The Master's Hand. IT WAS AMAZING! The art was truly amazing and I had no idea this guy even existed. The church uses a ton of his art. It goes until May 7th, so if you get the chance it is well worth it. Oh it's free too, you just have to print tickets off online...

The girls...

Recognize these?? I realized a lot of the art I saw were ones that are hanging up in churches and temples. He really is an amazing artist and you can definitely feel spirit through the art. My favorite by far was this one...

They had a huge one hanging and it was just amazing to look at and learn about...Based on the scripture when an angel comes to strengthen Christ during or after the Gethsemane experience.

We paid $3 to use an I-pad also...The tour is interactive if you choose to use one, and the I-pad has all sorts of details/videos about the paintings, commentary etc. Learned a lot and very worth it...

My Dad's most cheesy face and cute family :) (Sister is overdue with baby boy!)

After the museum, we decided to stay for lunch in Provo and dined at Carrabba's! Holy smokes, if you have never been there...it was to die for! They make everything in house and fresh, and the food all tasted unique and just perfect. We tried the Calamari for an appetizer, I'd never had it and it was delicious, I couldn't look at it before I ate it though ha.

After lunch, we decided to drop by and give Courtney her birthday gifts!

She is my oldest niece and is such a looker at only 14! She is also such a sweetheart and has so many friends cause she is so nice to everyone....She has an amazing voice and is taking singing lessons, is on an All-Star Softball team, dances in school, and just got her braces off!

Birthday Girls!

We also decided to go out to dinner later, ha ha. We went to La Cocina. If you know my family, you know that we love to go out to eat and love gooooood food! Yum... Tuesday is free margarita night btw!

Me & Lexi....

Dad & Amy...

Mom & Cumorah...

Josh was finally able to meet us after a long day at work and school and we finished the night off with some of us going to RED RIDING HOOD at Jordan Landing! It turned out to be a pretty good movie, except for a couple parts...but I won't ruin it for anyone, so when you see it let me know and we can chat.

Fun Day!

Diamonds #6

This week has been a busy week for us! We have both been running around working, going to birthday dinners, school, trying to keep our heads on straight :) etc... I also got my wedding ring cleaned! I was excited to and am going to go every 6 months to keep my ring in great condition, I love it!

Anyway, a lot has been on my mind including trying to be a good spouse which is sometimes challenging in the midst of so much going on...And also working to accomplish the things I need to and am able to at this time in my life. This week was one of those week's I needed to be reminded of who I am and the positive qualities about me. Unfortunately, even though I wish others and my husband could give me this peace of mind and re-assurance, I have learned that it is ONLY ME that can truly make myself happy and remind myself of exactly who I am and was meant to be. I think that is one of the tricky things about getting married! Sometimes you get used to depending on someone ELSE making you happy, someone ELSE doing hard work for you. I've learned that once we are truly happy within ourselves then we are not so dependent on others and can serve and love others so much more!

After I went and got my ring cleaned, I was searching Google for the stats of my diamond to see what they meant etc, and I found this statement. For some reason it's stuck with me:

"A polished diamond’s beauty lies in its complex relationship with light: how light strikes the surface, how much enters the diamond, and how, and in what form light returns to your eye."

Something I have come to realize and know for myself is that we were all created by God and that we are literal off-springs from Him! Meaning, if we were created by and from something that is 100% perfect, flawless, all-knowing...how could we not be exactly that! Perfect, flawless... You can't create something bad from something absolutely perfect. I loved the statement above because it reminded me of this and how we, as "diamonds" are already perfect but do not always recognize or believe this. A "diamond’s beauty lies in its complex relationship with light," is profound. We shine and are whole and happy when we let light into our lives. Our amount of happiness and our confidence and beauty is magnified depending upon how much light we let into our lives. We are also able to attract others when we let light in and let it reflect off of us :)

Light can mean different things to different people, but to me the true light in my life is Christ. When I have a good relationship with him, I am a better person. I also let light in through being with uplifting people, reading scriptures, making goals and looking for the good in others.

Just a thought for the day... Remember who you are! #6....

Six months...

On March 2nd Josh & I celebrated our Six Month Anniversary as a married couple! I've always been the type that likes to celebrate little things and Holidays. It makes things fun and a little more exciting than just the day to day routine... I made a delicious chicken wrap dinner and we ate our wedding cake for dessert!! We decided to eat it at six months instead of a year so it would be somewhat edible...

I also bought a cake from Nothing Bundt Cakes just in case our cake was nasty tasting. To my surprise it was pretty good! It was a carrot cake with cinnamon, and we ended up eating more of the bundt cake but they were both great!

SIX MONTHS! Whoo! Love you Shu...

On Valentine's Day also, my awesome Mother created an amazing Valentine's dinner for our family with gifts and treats placed at everyone's seat! Pretty sure I learned my celebration traditions from her ;)... I love my family so much. They mean the world to me & I am so grateful for them... Joshua spoiled me as well on this holiday and made me a very happy woman! Grateful for the love that I feel in my life and for friends & family that I love...
