Yea, all things which come of the earth, in the season thereof, are made for the benefit and the use of man, both to please the eye and to gladden the heart.
Yea, for food and for raiment, for taste and for smell, to strengthen the body and to enliven the soul.

#4...Emergen-C

#4...I love this stuff... We always have it in our house, I usually buy a 30 pack. It's definitely a keeper and worth a try. I will post a website at the bottom where you can get some FREE samples too...

Emergen-C is a powder vitamin drink mix. It is advertised as a Health, Energy & Electrolyte boost. It is awesome stuff and I was first introduced to it by some friends who did triathlons a couple years ago. I know a lot of people who use it while exercising, going on hikes etc., and they just put it in their water bottle. It has all the essentials of what your body needs, so it is in no way a waste to take. It has 1,000 mg of Vitamin C and zinc, as well as antioxidants to assist your bodies overall health. Like the garlic pills I take sometimes as prevention for colds, I take Emergen-C not only if I feel a cold coming on, but also during my cold (it cuts sick time in half at least- with 2-3 packets per day), or if I feel like my immune system is down, feeling fatigued etc..

It is also an energy boost. There are 7- B Vitamins in it, B1, B2, B3, B6 & B12 etc.... These all are natural energy boosters. There is NO caffeine, and no crash.

One of the best things I love about this is it is an Electrolyte boost. It has a ton of minerals and electrolytes like potassium, sodium, calcium, magnesium etc. Emergen-C is great to take after you work out- to replace lost electrolytes OR I take it when its that time of the month :) I was told by one of my anatomy professors that when you are losing a lot of blood and therefore tons of electrolytes, take an electrolyte supplement i.e. Gatorade, etc. and it will help your body have more energy and less cramps versues fatigue and a lot of pain. It works for me and I feel much better around those times.

There are tons of flavors and you can buy them at many local grocery stores...

St George & Cedar

This last weekend, Josh and I had the opportunity to go and stay with our friends in Cedar City! I went to nursing school with Lindsey and she is one of my greatest friends now (nursing school will do that to ya!)...Kris and Lindsey are awesome and let us stay with them at their cute place. Lindsey, to say the least, has gotten me through some tough times. She is such an example to me and has an amazing testimony that I learn from all the time...(She is also friends with my amazing cousin Bliss!)...We had so much fun with them. They wined and dined us! We had an amazing meal every night and Kris made his delicious Alfredo sauce with pasta. We also played cards, where Josh and Linds came out winners :(...Next time Kris!

Yes, we are cool.

Josh aka Scum and Kris aka President, King, whatever u call it :)
And now for the individual shots...

Kris was very intent on his game playing as you can see...

Lindsey was happy because she gets all the good cards...

My two highs were Jacks, lucky me!

Josh has a hard time holding cards in one hand ha ha ;)

My babe and I...We love our friends and are sooo grateful for them!
We also got to visit the St George temple and do sealings while we were there...it was beautiful, and if you haven't been you should definitely go! Our main reason we went down was also to meet up with Josh's friends so they could go riding in Mesquite. While he did that I hung out with my wonderful friend Amber at Pizza Factory and hung with my other friend Chelsea!

Thanks everyone for the good times...!

Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia!

READ THIS!!! I have come across an amazing thing the last couple of weeks and am excited to share about this...because it was the first time I have heard about it and probably most of you have never heard it either.

Talking to a co-worker one day, she tells me that she's starting to run regularly again and feels better training than she ever has. Knowing I love to run, I started asking questions about why she loves it so much. That is when she tells me about Chia Seeds. She drinks them, and she swears she can run twice as much when she does without being out of breath or feeling tired. "You actually drink them??"...was my response, and being the curious person I am I went online and then to the health food store (Sunflower Market!) a couple days ago to check these out. Pictured below...

SO...long post short...
Here are the amazing health benefits of Chia Seeds- I am not kidding...

ENERGY!

"When Chia seeds are put into water, they form a gel that apparently slows down the digestive process...Doctors believe that the same thing happens when they are digested and this barrier of gel that is created slows down the conversion of carbs into sugars.

The obvious benefit of this is that your body is able to feed off of these carbs for a longer period of time and therefore creates more energy for you to live off of. This in turn will give you more energy allowing you to have more endurance. Instead of having the ups and downs that you would experience with today’s energy drinks, you would just have one prolonged burst of energy from a single dose."

HYDRATION!

"Another benefit of the Chia seed is something that is right before your eyes, but something that you may not have thought of. The reason that the Chia seeds forms this gel like substance is because it has the ability to absorb about twelve times its weight in water and hold onto it. Think about that for a moment and think of how valuable something like that can be to an endurance athlete.

While you may not think to buy Chia seeds for an athletic competition, your mind will quickly change when you realize that this ability to absorb so much water is ideal as it can prevent you from dehydrating."

OTHER HEALTH EFFECTS

  • Fiber- more than flax seeds AND assists really well with digestion
  • Can assist in losing weight the inexpensive & healthy way
  • great source of vitamins and high levels of Omega-3 essential acids
  • calcium, protein, phosphorus and zinc rich plant
I have been taking Chia seeds the last couple of days and honestly feel like I have so much more energy (not fatigued like I get sometimes) and just feel overall better. I put ONE Tablespoon into an 8oz or more glass of water, and let it sit for 10 minutes. I usually drink it before I go to bed, but you can drink it generally whenever. The gel like substance took a day or two to get used to fyi, but there really is no taste. I haven't gone running yet but excited to! :)

ALSO...the most you should spend for these is around 6 or 7 dollars. I got them at Sunflower Market in the bulk section for $6.99/lb.

K-9 Protection

So, I got this a few years ago after a friend downloaded it on my computer. I didn't think much of it until the last year or so when I got married and talked to people who were having computer issues- random things popping up, wrong websites, addiction problems etc. Having known individuals personally who have struggled with certain issues, (you may know some too or may not even be aware) I know that this is so important to protect for our individual happiness, So...let me explain what this is!

K-9 Protection is a FREE and easy application that you download on your computer to protect your family from un-welcome internet access etc. It is easy to download, make a password (You can have someone you know make a password for your family so no one knows), and utilize. It has been Awesome and I just wanted to spread the word! It is also becoming really popular due to its success and was featured in the New York Times this last year.
  • Go To: http://www1.k9webprotection.com/, And download FREE

  • Become a fan on Facebook also...Go To: http://www.facebook.com/pages/K9-Web-Protection-by-Blue-Coat-Systems/215414518798

I just got an email today also, saying that it is now available for iphones etc! Here are the directions:

Installing K9 on Your Apple Mobile Device

Do the following to install K9 Web Protection Browser:

  1. Go to the App Store and search for "K9".

  2. Install the K9 Web Protection Browser app.

  3. Disable the built-in web browser by following the steps here.

  4. If you like the app, please rate it in the App Store (we love 5-star ratings!) and leave a positive review. This will help others find the app more easily.

"Because families are eternal, we cannot afford to be casual or complacent about those relationships. Much of the great work of this society in the past has been centered in helping Latter-day Saint women strengthen families, with emphasis on improving our nurturing skills—homemaking skills, parenting skills, and marriage skills. Families mean work, but they are our great work—and we are not afraid of work. This is what we do best; no one does families better than the sisters of this Relief Society. We uphold, nourish, and protect them."- Julie B. Beck, 2007

I feel very strongly about this, so tell your family and friends... Consider this my #2 Health post focused on mental health and happiness :)

I would love to know if this worked for you, and let me know if you have any questions!!!
